Getting Around With Free Las Vegas Transportation

Ditch the car rentals and cancel those overpriced ridesharing apps. It’s time to discover all the best free Las Vegas transportation options! If you’re visiting Las Vegas on a budget, you can cut costs while getting around the Strip, to and from the airport, or exploring downtown using free trams and shuttles.
Las Vegas has multiple tram routes that make getting around the Strip much more pleasant. You’ll skip the heat, avoid the crowds, and save some money while casino-hopping. Check out these options for free trams on the Vegas Strip.

Hours: Daily 10am – 12am (runs every 10 minutes)
Visitors staying near the South End of the Strip can utilize the Mandalay Bay Tram. It’s been open since 1999 and remains a popular free public transportation option. It connects Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, with four stops in total. There are two ways to travel the Mandalay Bay Tram:

*Note that both trams run in both directions!
Follow the signs in the Mandalay Bay to the tram station. It’s an elevated railway, so you’ll go up a set of escalators to reach the tram platform. Tram tracks are marked for Tram #1 or Express Tram #2, and they run every 10 minutes.
Both trams consist of five cars, each with a capacity of 32 passengers per car, for a total of 160 passengers per tram. There is limited bench seating inside and poles to hold onto while the tram is in motion. Space may vary depending on strollers, passengers with bags, etc.
Insider tip: there’s a pedestrian bridge connecting Excalibur to the New York, New York Hotel.

Hours: Daily 8am – 2am (runs every 5 minutes)
Navigate the heart of the Strip for free using the Aria Express. It zips between Park MGM and the Bellagio in less than five minutes at a high speed of more than 23 miles per hour. It provides convenient access to popular destinations between these stops.
Route:

*Tram runs both directions
This tram has four cars with seating and standing capacity for up to 33 passengers per car (132 total)—space may vary depending on luggage, strollers, etc. It even has air conditioning to cool off from the Vegas heat! The waiting platform includes digital displays showing when the next train will arrive.
Insider tip: Visitors can minimize time spent outdoors in hot weather by walking through the New York, New York casino to reach Park MGM or Excalibur to transfer between the Aria Express and the Mandalay Bay Tram.

One of the latest hotel/casinos opening soon on the Strip will also feature a free transportation option. The Hard Rock-Treasure Island Tram is scheduled to open in 2027 with the opening of the new Hard Rock Hotel.
The original tram connected Treasure Island with the former Mirage Hotel. It discontinued service when the Mirage Hotel closed in July 2024. The Hard Rock Hotel is being constructed on the site of the former Mirage. Although the two hotels are adjacent to each other, the tram is designed to save you the walk between properties.

Downtown Las Vegas is an exciting area to explore. It’s home to the famous Fremont Street Experience, Container Park for shopping and dining, the Arts District, and excellent hotel options. It’s located approximately six miles away from the Strip. Luckily, there’s a free transportation option to save money going back and forth.
The Downtown Loop is a free shuttle with 13 stops total. It goes from the Strip (the Strat) to downtown, with stops at other must-visit destinations. It’s a no-cost alternative to taking an Uber, taxi, or the Deuce Bus.

Here’s the list of stops to help you get around on this convenient free shuttle:
The Downtown Loop shuttle only runs one way. The numbers represent the order of the stops. Head’s up–the shuttle goes from the Arts District North to the Strat before circling back for Brewery Row and Arts District South. Be sure to request your stop to the driver, because you’ll have to make the entire loop again if you miss it.
Look for the pink signs outside the stops to wait for the next shuttle. They typically run every 25-30 minutes and take approximately 50 minutes to complete the entire loop. From Fremont Street to the Strat, expect a 25-35 minute ride, depending on how many stops it makes. It seats up to 20 passengers.
Hours:
Sunday-Thursday 11am-6pm
Friday/Saturday 3pm-10pm
Insider tip: There’s also The Vegas Loop, which is an underground tunnel at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It offers free rides at stops on the LVCC campus (LVCC Riviera Station, LVCC West Station, LVCC Central Station, and LVCC South Station), but tickets can be purchased for a single ride to other stations.

Several Vegas hotels offer complimentary shuttle service between Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and the hotel. They’re typically hotels located near the airport or off the Strip, accessible only to registered guests at the property. Shuttle service must be requested before your arrival.
Here’s a list of hotels with free shuttle service to/from the airport:
Times may vary for operation hours, so confirm with your hotel while making your request. Check this guide for alternative transportation if you’re staying on the Strip.
