RAIN IN THE DESERT
(Palms Casino
Resort, 938-9999):
Fantasy meets reality at Rain Nightclub, a 28,000 square foot playground
created for adults only. Fourteen-foot fireballs light up an elevated
dance floor as glistening bodies dance to a beat that is so contagious,
the dancing water fountains struggle to keep up. Skyboxes, cabanas and
water booths provide a more intimate affair for 8 – 15 guests.
Reservations are required and should be made in advance. Rain Nightclub,
doubles as Rain, the entertainment venue, with a list of past performers
that include Kid Rock, Santana, Ozzy Osbourne, No Doubt, Seal, Nelly, Jay
Z, Korn, Counting Crows, Live, Goo Goo Dolls, Pink, and Britney Spears who
stunned the crowd with a surprise performance.
The
Palms has made it a point to snag the under-30 crowd once owned
exclusively by the
Hard
Rock. The casino has a slicker, edgier feel than
most of the Strip resorts and that extends to its premier nightspot as
well. Rain in the Desert is one of the most advanced clubs in town,
featuring an amazing lighting system and multilevel design that can
satisfy even the most jaded club kid. Another great feature is its
connection to the groovy Skin pool lounge, which also operates as its own
separate nightspot. A multipurpose venue, Rain hosts a variety of events,
including concerts and larger-than-life club gigs (check out the upcoming
Pimp ’N’ Ho ball). Thursdays with DJ Hollywood and R.O.B. have been quite
the big deal, and Saturdays have recently made a noticeable dent in the
competitive scene. Don’t expect to find any underground cool, as the club
is set squarely in the mainstream. But if you’re after a more MTV-friendly
environment, Rain is the place for it.
Skin Pool Lounge
Also at the
Palms is the Skin Pool Lounge. As if a pool overflowing with
beautiful people isn’t enough to capture your attention, Skin Pool Lounge
offers other diversions such as poolside blackjack, massages, outdoor
swings, mouth-watering beverages and snacks, unique double-decker cabanas,
as well as 21 single story cabanas fully equipped with a television,
misters, fan, stocked refrigerator and chaise lounges. To cool down, dip
your tail in to the above ground mermaid cove or one of two relaxation
pools.
By night, Skin takes on a new look as nightclub and entertainment venue,
with features that include a concert stage, spectacular lighting and fog
effects. Shadow dancers, mesmerizing mermaids and aqua Go-Go girls keep
with the beat of the live DJ, who keeps the fun going all night long.
Skin is open to hotel
guests.
Mon-Thurs 9AM-5PM and Fri-Sun 9AM-6PM (weather permitting)
Ghostbar
At the top of the Palms is Ghostbar. The ride lasts only seconds, but
seems like an eternity, the suspense builds and the doors open. What you
see is a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas Strip from 55 floors above, a
site unfathomable to ghostbar virgins. As the view draws you in, the music
of the live DJ fills the background. From the “ghostdeck”, yet another
view takes your breath away, one from a see-thru acrylic floor looking
directly at the Skin Pool Lounge below. The room, simple, yet eclectic,
allows the beautiful patrons to be the focal point. back

3 DRAI’S (Barbary
Coast, 737-7111):
A
swank gourmet restaurant by day, Drai’s transforms into one of the
nation’s hottest after-hour parties every Wednesday through Sunday. Here
cash is king. Expect a circus of a crowd clamoring for the chance to
descend into the basement club. Dress to the nines and have a wad of
doorman grease money on hand or else forget about getting in. Drai’s
often suffers from the beautiful-people complex. Still, it is an
experience that every club-goer should have once. Besides, you just
might run into Ben Affleck or Carmen Elektra.

COYOTE UGLY at New
York New York (740-6969) A Southern style dance bar featuring hot
female bartenders who have elevated pouring drinks to an art form. Like
its New York City namesake, the sexy, sassy, tough talking Coyote Ugly
bartenders ascend to the top of the bar nightly to perform an entertaining
show filled with stunts ranging from fire-blowing to body shots to
choreographed dance numbers. Tons of fun, these lovely ladies invite
customer interaction for a truly memorable experience. Decorated with
Southern flea market treasures and well-worn wood, this room feels more
like a happening college bar than a typical night club.
5
ICE
(200 E. Harmon Ave., 699-9888):
The chic 17,000-square-foot meta_club features
40-foot ceilings and six unique environments, including a balcony
overlooking the entire venue.
The club is laid out in a circular pattern so you
can walk around from one room to the next easily. The first room has a
more casual feel and features a resident DJ (as well as visiting DJs),
go-go dancers, a bar and a VIP area. It's here you can feel the pulse of
the country's largest Funktion-One 100,000 watt sound-system as you dance
on the cushioned 4,000-square-foot Brazilian walnut dance floor. The next
room has another large bar, a few lounges to relax in and a view of the
main dance floor where guest DJs spin the hottest tunes.
Check out the "Fur Room" (which features fur-lined
walls, latex furniture and S&M iconography) or one of two elevated VIP
areas. All are intimate rooms that still maintain a great view of the club
floor action.
Even though this club is called ICE, chances are
you'll work up a sweat grooving to the hottest tunes. Have no fear,
because ICE features a unique atmospheric control system for the dance
floor. When activated, the system submerges dancers in a dense fog of
liquid nitrogen, dramatically dropping the temperature, but not the
action. There also is a bar located right next to the dance floor to
quench your thirst.
The club features several performance art
platforms that showcase its in-house performance troupe of mimes,
contortionists, go-go dancers, aerial acrobats and magicians that keep the
crowd constantly entertained. The crowd at ICE is an extensive mix of
ages. The party really gets going around midnight or later, but get there
early if you want to avoid a line. back

Prive'
(London Club at the
Planet Hollywood, 785-5525):
If Las
Vegas were an amusement park (and some would argue that it is), Sin
City’s nightlife industry would be the roller coasters. There are ups
and downs, each new coaster trying to outdo the last. Bigger hills,
faster turns, you get it.
And unlike any park we’ve ever heard of, Vegas opens a new “coaster” at
least once every few months, so it’s with nervous trepidation that the
city awaits each new venue. Busting onto the scene with three other
clubs on New Year’s Eve, Privé Nightclub was in for a lot of
competition. The seasoned partiers of our fair town weren’t looking for
any rickety, old, wooden ride. They wanted something new, with double
loops and corkscrews. Lucky for Vegas’ thrill-seekers (or
night-clubbers, in this case), Privé delivers. Chic imagery meets
cutting-edge décor for an illuminating A-list experience. Perfecting the
quintessential Miami vibe, Privé will play host to Vegas and Hollywood's
VIPs. Bring your entourage.

Studio 54
(MGM Grand,
702.891.7254):
Club Website The club that redefined the New York nightclub scene in the 1970s is setting the standard in the ever-expanding Las Vegas nightclub scene of the new century. Studio 54 features the most eclectic music mix around. The two-story club blends the latest pop music trends with the caustic rhythm of cutting-edge house music. The theme of Las Vegas' Studio 54 suggests the same vibe as the original club, "Dress Spectacular!" In Las Vegas, the city known for excess and overindulgence, Studio 54 has been a perfect fit.
Tuesday
Every Tuesday night at Studio 54 is EDEN, "Erotically Delicious Entertainers Night." All Las Vegas entertainers and those in the entertainment industry come to Studio 54 for a night of vibrant visuals and house grooves. Saints and sinners dance amongst the live snake nymphs and fig-leafed aerial go-go dancers who groove to the sounds of DJ P's hip-hop creations and Joey D's latest spin in house music.
Thursday
Studio 54 features a newly revamped expression of nightlife entertainment with DOLLHOUSE. In addition to seductive female go-go dancers, DOLLHOUSE now includes live body art and an all female DJ lineup. Las Vegas' favorite female DJ, Miss Joy tag teams with Studio 54 resident DJ Lisa Pittman to create musical ecstasy and the hottest DJ tandem on the Vegas strip. The excitement continues throughout the night as the "DOLLS", whose bodies will be showcased as living canvases, evolve from flesh colored bombshells into mural masterpieces. The sinfully playful affair is held every Thursday night from midnight until the early morning hours.

8 Body English
(Hard
Rock, 693-5555):
Body English was formerly home
to Baby's nightclub at the Hard
Rock. The new club, a partnership between the Hard
Rock and famed LA nightlife promoter Brent Bolthouse, was
designed by Kelly Wearstler, who designed the Hard
Rock's new high-roller
suites. Think European rock star bachelor pad complete with
mirrored walls, baccarat crystal chandeliers, rich leather booths and
black walls. The elegant decor makes you feel like you're going to an
exclusive, secret hideaway as you descend a nondescript staircase and head
to the club, located underneath The Joint. A posh VIP area is also located
on the upper floor, at the far end of the club -- offering an overview of
all the action.
For those who want
to forgo the booths, there is a large bar upstairs that provides a fairly
spacious area for mingling and plenty of room to stand and look out over
the dancers below.
The bottom floor of Body English offers
more booths, a second bar and an "ultra-VIP" area so exclusive that VIPs
can see out, but no one can see in. The room has its own bar and is
soundproof so that the VIP patrons can have their own music selection
inside. back

MGM Grand yet again defines another genre of nightlife with Teatro Euro Bar. The senses will be seduced through a fusion of music, erotic performances and exclusive bottle service at this one of a kind hot spot. Its most tantalizing feature is the catwalk, which turns from an unassuming champagne bar into a vixen-bearing tease. The catwalk becomes the stage for sensuous themed dances that occur sporadically throughout the evening.
Tuesday-Thursday Tuesday through Thursday, partygoers will enjoy the red-hot after hours "House of Love." Discover an amorous night of seductively clad models, while DJs Digital Boy and Leo Teo spin the latest in house music. Friday Every Friday, partygoers can indulge in ROCK IT, an eclectic mix of music through the eras. Teatro Euro Bar will host an arousing mix of hippy sounds of the 70's, hair bands of the 80's and the Top 40 tunes of the 90's, continuing the tone of unparalleled excitement and tempting fun. ROCK IT begins at 10 p.m. with a surprise celebrity DJ every Friday.
Guests will walk
under 20 ft. long wood trellises with syncopating beams of
light that lead them into the main room. The club's interior
design features the rich colors of dark stained wood columns
highlighting violet and burgundy wall coverings. The first and

they sure have a strong sexy vibe.
