Hotel Amenities

Palm trees, white alabaster swan statues, bronze fish sculptures, and lush landscaping surround a large pool. Adjacent is a hot tub. Pool attendants happily provide guests with complimentary towels and lounge chairs as well as take drink orders. Private cabanas are available for daily rental and contain refrigerators.

What to expect: Dating back to 1946, the Golden Nugget was upgraded from its Wild West-saloon past beginning in 1972 when Las Vegas hotelier Steve Wynn took control. It earned luxury-class status in 1984 when Wynn shocked the establishment by removing the gaudy neon encircling the hotel. Today elegance prevails, as the hotel's white-and-brass facade gleams and guests enter a white-marble-floor lobby beneath recessed mirror ceilings and brass-and-glass chandeliers.

Amenity highlights: Surrounded by coconut palms and a spacious sundeck, a large, heated, year-round pool and an eight-person spa offers water pleasure. For-rent cabanas come with television, radio, and complimentary snacks. Entered through a courtyard featuring a vaulted skylight, pink-marble columns, gleaming brass accents, and gold mirrors, a full-service health-and-beauty spa provides rest and relaxation. Facilities include a fitness center, tanning rooms, saunas, steam rooms, Swedish showers, and 12-person spas.

Insider tip: Securing a terrace seat at the hotel's Starbucks is the best method of enjoying the Fremont Street Experience sound-and-light shows.

Entertainment at The Golden Nugget

Under a vault of two million light bulbs and employing a 550,000-watt sound system, a four-block pedestrians-only stretch of downtown Las Vegas called Fremont Street Experience presents periodic sound-and-light shows from dusk to midnight. Other day-and-night entertainment on the street includes live music, classic-car displays, and holiday festivals. Like nine other downtown casino hotels, the Golden Nugget opens directly onto Fremont Street, creating a lively flow of pedestrian traffic.

Lon Bronson brings his 12-member All-Star R&B, Rock & Soul Revue to the Golden Nugget’s 400-seat Theatre Ballroom. Lon Bronson’s All-Star Band will perform two shows weekly; Mondays at 10 PM and Saturdays at midnight. In addition to performing with legends such as Elton John, Gladys Knight, Gloria Estefan, and Wayne Newton, the All-Star Band has performed on national television, including a stint as the resident house band during the 1998-1999 season of “Viva Variety,” Comedy Central’s cult-hit variety show.

Acclaimed entertainer, "Downtown" Gordie Brown, brings his engaging comedy and mastery of impersonation to the Golden Nugget's Theatre Ballroom. Accompanied by his live band, Brown combines dozens of classic impressions with non-stop music and comedy. Having won the acclaim of critics and audiences alike, Brown has been called an untouchable force on the comedy circuit and has received numerous awards including "Entertainer of the Year," "Best Comedian" and "Best New Show." Performances are scheduled Friday through Tuesday at 7:30 PM; no shows on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Reserved tickets are priced at $55.
