The Southwestern-inspired Gold Coast is located one mile west of the Strip.

What to expect: Although it's not on The strip, the Gold Coast doesn't lack for action and excitement. With 711 rooms, a large casino, and several restaurants, the hotel is a destination unto itself, with some guests not leaving the property during their entire stay. It is popular with families and those that have visited Vegas before and want the entertainment and the gambling, but but not the hassle of The Strip. The hotel has updated its look, adopting a more contemporary Southwestern theme.
Amenity highlights: The Gold Coast has a large casino with more than 2,100 slots and video poker machines, a complimentary slot club, and nine restaurants. Also on-site is an 800-seat live bingo hall, which has twice-yearly $100,000 bingo tournaments. In the northwest corner of the casino an eight-table, nonsmoking poker room is available. In addition, there is nightly live entertainment and a 70-lane bowling alley with video arcade. For a change of pace, the hotel also has an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and complimentary child care (up to three-and-a-half hours each day).
Insider tip: Guests can take a complimentary shuttle bus to Gold Coast's companion property, The Orleans, which has a 16-screen movie theater and a bowling alley.
Dining at The Gold Coast
Arriva - Italian restaurant located in the northwest corner of the casino; open for dinner only. Features a dining room with marble and carpeted flooring, Italian artwork, and an extensive wine selection. Open Wednesday through Sunday evenings.
Cortez Room - The Cortez Room serves generous portions of prime rib, steak, and seafood. An informal and comfortable atmosphere with dark leather booths and subdued lighting contributes to the dining experience. Open for dinner only.
Ping Pang Pong Chinese Kitchen - Chefs prepare specialty dishes from various provinces of China, in addition to other popular dishes, including dim sum. Decor includes marble floors da Buddha at the entrance. Open for dinner only.
Monterey Room - Offering items ranging from a light snack to a complete meal, this 24-hour coffee shop also offers Chinese cuisine prepared by Chinese chefs.
Ports O' Call Buffet - The all-you-can-eat buffet has seven cooking stations featuring seafood, Mongolian, Chinese, American/Barbeque, Mexican, and Italian dishes, as well as salad and dessert bars. The restaurant has brightly colored carpet and a keno board, and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Terrible Mike's - This restaurant serves fast fare, including hot dogs, hamburgers, and hot and cold deli sandwiches. It has wooden tables and a view of the casino. It is open from early morning to late at night.
Kate's Korner - Serving ice-cream treats, this restaurant is reminiscent of a small-town corner drugstore. Specialties include banana splits, sundaes, and sodas with all the works. Kate's serves ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sugar-free yogurt. Open during the day.
Seattle's Best Coffee - This coffee shop is a popular sipping and socializing spot. Patrons enjoy gourmet specialty coffees, lattes, mochas, blended drinks, and freshly baked items. Open from early morning until late evening.
Bowling Center Snack Bar - Open for lunch and dinner, this outlet offers pizza and other fast foods, plus drinks and snacks, in a sports-bar-like environment.
Entertainment at The Gold Coast
Action is always the name of the game at the Gold Coast, where players can enjoy every type of casino game, as well as Las Vegas's number one rated bingo and exciting race and sports book with 38-inch screen. The casino also features an eight-table, nonsmoking poker room and multiple plasma-screen TVs.
The casino features Blackjack ("21"), craps, roulette, Baccarat, Pai Gow poker, a keno lounge, and more than 2,400 slots, video poker, and video poker machines.
The Gold Coast is the only location in Las Vegas with a million-dollar keno game.
Forever Plaid
- This popular musical comedy tells the story of four young singers in the 1950s who never made it on the way to their first concert and were miraculously resurrected for the opportunity to perform the concert that never happened. This "Heavenly Musical Hit" plays nightly Tues-Sun and has a Sunday matinee show.
Other entertainment includes: A 70-lane Brunswick Bowling Center, Nevada's largest dance hall and a Show lounge.
Recreation and Entertainment
The hotel has an outdoor, freeform swimming pool and spa tub. A 70-lane bowling alley with video arcade is on-site, as well as a fitness center that overlooks the pool area.
Five miles away is the Las Vegas Country Club, a public 18-hole golf course. The Lake Mead recreational area is about an hour from the hotel.
