Assault at the Fitzgerald’s Casino, Las Vegas Craps Table

I was having the best roll of the night at the Fitzgeralds’ hotel in downtown Las Vegas. The night was Thursday December 4th and the time was about 10:00PM. This crew had lost control of one half of the table. Many new players were confused which bets were there’s and the newly replaced dealer did his best to correct a previous dealers misplaced Place and Come bets. I was being hassled by the Asian box man for not throwing the die hard enough against the back wall, then he complained not to throw them in the corner, and finally even the dealer at the far end would take and set bets after the dice were given to me to shoot. The stickman would also raise his hands or the stick up to block my view before I let the dice go as well. I felt I was handling the attempt to disrupt my concentration well when this crew started a new tactic. I wish to share with all who enjoy the game of Craps what this afternoon crew did.

The stickman who after delivering the dice to me to shoot would wait for me to reach down and pick-up the dice and just prior to my release would tap my back or shoulder. Later he would strike me harder. I asked him to stop and also looked right at the box man to show my displeasure at this tactic. When nothing changed I tried to ignore his assault to my person and continued to throw the dice when they were given to me. . I was positioned stick L2. The man at stick L1 would also complain to the stickperson but to no avail. All the time the Asian box man continued to harass my dice throwing too. At no time did he attempt to stop his crew from this behaviour. I must believe the hotel condones this new tactic because the pit boss in charge was informed of this problem and his only comment was, “Did he complain loud enough” when the Texas prison guard at stick L1 reported the table antics.

Now I am a long time “recreational gambler” and enjoy throwing dice as a leisure activity. I have accepted the outcomes to each days sessions without complaint. I know if I was a slot player I would be greeted and showered with gratitude for playing a casino when I won. As a table player I expected to be treated safely and with respect WIN or LOSE. I wrote a two page complaint letter to the manager in charge that evening but have received no reply even though I was a casino guest of this hotel until December 7th.

The result of this has tainted my joy of playing the game I love. Three other craps players and myself all decided to leave the table together as a protest for this treatment. I did not shake off the assault upon my person and did let the casino know I would post this article to all the craps sites I frequent as a poster, as well as to Facebook, and My Space too.

I am sending a copy to top management of the Fitzgeralds Las Vegas as well.

I will post any reply received as a comment if they ever do respond to this.
