I was just wondering how many out there have used the twenty dollar trick/tip to get free upgrades on rooms ? I have used it several times and it has always worked. We have gone from a regular room at the Rio to their Masquerade suiet. We have also gone from a view of the lake at the Bellagio to a beautiful high rollers suiet called the Cypress suiet. we had some great discussion about this at an earlier date...

To recap... I have used it several times.. sometimes it worked other times it did not.... Flamingo (airport Checkin) worked, upgraded to a top floor suite. Aladdin(now Planet Hollywood). worked upgraded to a suite. Tropicana worked. upgraded to a higher level tower room from a courtyard booking. Sahara did not work.... guy said there is no such thing around here.... In other words he was being watched by his superior.

AT BALLYS I GOT TO CHECK IN AT 9AM VEGAS TIME GOT A GREAT ROOM AND MADE A POINT TO GET THE NICE GENTLEMANS NAME, AND GAVE A GREAT REVIEW TO HIS BOSSES AT EXCEUTIVES OFFICE THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY, NOT ONLY DOES THE HOTEL GET GREAT FEEDBACK ON HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THIER HOTEL, THE PERSON WHO BUMP YOU UP TO A SUITE DESERVES TO BE APPRECIATED FOR THIER JOB, AND YOU SCORED A SUITE SO EVERYONES HAPPY!!!!!!!! Probably a stupid question....I am planning my first Vegas trip for this summer. How exactly do you guys approach the $20 trick? Do you ask for an upgrade and hand them a $20, or what do you do? Sorry if this has already been answered....

My Approch is when they ask for you credit card or I.D. I have it folded over twice and have it under the card that I'm handing over, While handing it over I ask if there is any "complimentary Upgrades" as they are recieving the card and 20 bucks. Generally they will come back with a line of "let me check" and they'll hook you up, or they will say no, nothing available and usually hand back the twenty.. if they don't hand back the twenty, I usually say "oop's I must have had a bill stuck to my card, can I have that back please"... Bit of a game, but it usually in your favor as long as you play your cards right

If they do take the money and say they upgraded you but you don't get any better room than what you originally booked.... well you just lost your first bet in Vegas....
