Lightbulb my best Vegas travel tips ...

Free Drinks - Don't spend your money on at expensive clubs where the drinks are around $10-$20 a pop. Hang around the slots, etc., and a waitress will come by and offer you free drinks. Tip around $1 per drink. Once you had enough, you can hit the clubs!

Also, to get a decent free beer, the various bars only have stuff like Miller Lite, Bud etc. (fine if that is your thing) - but, if you ask nicely, they'll serve a very presentable glass of Samuel Adams or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale using their secret stash!

Eat something and consider taking some aspirin before getting under the influence of the "free" drinks. About 1 glass of water for each drink is the hydration rule. Have more water if it is hot. You will be very thankful in the morning.

A few more tips...
Don't bet more than you can afford to lose, since the odds are you will lose it all.

Don't carry your wallet in your back pocket or put your handbag on the floor, as you will be asking to get robbed.

If you do happen to win when gambling, just get up and leave.

If you are asthmatic or don't like smokey air, stay away from the old downtown casinos and older strip hotels. They don't have the air filters needed to clean out all the gunk in the iar. Better yet, go to a smoke-free hotel like Vdara, Planet Hollywood Towers, Platinum, Mandarin Oriental, Trump, Westin, The Signature, Bluegreen Club, Marriott, Renaissance, Wyndham, etc. Some new hotels, like Aria have smoke free sections in the casino. Bring eyedrops and lotion with you for the dry hotel air. Have plenty of allergy meds with you in case you need them.

If you are going to gamble, play something easy with the odds in your favor. The best game is baccarat, which is one of the best kept secrets in Vegas. The stakes are usually high, but you can usually find a mini-baccarat table that has the same great odds (closest to 50% of any game) with much lower buy-ins. Just bet "player" and forget even trying to learn rules. The dealer will tell you if you won! Another good game is craps (bet pass or don't pass only). All the other games are sucker bets with odds way against you.

Take advantage of buffets. They are the best deal in Vegas. You can pay one price and eat for the whole day.

Shows are a must see. Be sure to experience some of the Cirque shows.

Explore areas outside of Vegas, like Red Rock Canyon (great hiking).
