Default What to do in Vegas for the first time?

I am going to Las Vegas for the first time and I have no idea what to do. The City offers so much, what should I do? Shows, clubs, site seeing it's just so overwhelming. I'll be there during Nascar so there will be lots of people in town. Any great ideas to narrow it down and ease my frustration?

Yes, there are a lot of choices of things to do in Las Vegas and narrowing them down to a couple of them is always difficult. Here are some big things that you don't want to miss.

- Tour of the strip. You can get a monorail pass that goes from MGM Grand to all the way up the north end of the strip around Stratosphere. Just get off at each stop and explore the hotels by foot. Don't miss a lot of the free outdoor shows, like Bellagio fountains, Treasure Island show, Miraga Volcano...

- Be sure to see some major shows, like one of the Cirque shows (O, KA, Mystere). Blueman group, We will rock you, Mama mia. Lance Burton, Penn and Teller, Danny Gans, ...

- Eat at some great restaurants. Bellagio, Wynn, MGM, Mandalay Bay have some great choices. Be sure to try some of the top buffets (Rio, Bellagio, Aladdin).

- Visit downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street).

- Explore some of the nightclubs and bars. Ghostbar at Palms, Studio 54 and Tabu at MGM, RA at Luxor ...

- Of course, do some gambling for fun.

- Visit art museums at Venetian and Bellagio.

Red face Re: What to do in Vegas for the first time?

There are too many things to do in Las Vegas. My suggestion do some research of what is most important to you prior to your trip then "shadow plan" at least one half of your time during the day. Always be open to change your plans as this town offers so much.

After your first trip, go home with whatever knowkedge your trip provided, and plan for the next one. This is NOT a "one visit town"

..... but most of all seize the time away and enjoy.

It would be much easier to give you some ideas if we knew your age, what you enjoy doing etc. There is way to much to do and see on one visit. It took us several visits to just see and do the basics. Make sure to watch the Bellagio Fountains, they are a free show on the strip. There are 100's of shows. I would just do some research and pick one or two for my first visit. One of the CDS shows would be great - "LOVE" is my favorite. Also, "Mamma Mia" is playing there yet at Mandalay Bay. It's a wonderful show too. Just walking down the strip and visiting all of the properties takes a few days and is a lot of fun. Don't over plan and just do a few things your first trip, as I am sure you will be back.
