Question Vegas on a very limited buget.

This year my annual trip to Vegas with my wife will have to be on the cheap. I have a few tricks in-mind this year. I am staying at the Sahara.... I was planning on going to a grocery store when I get there and stocking up on water, breakfast foods and snacks to help out with the cost of food. I was going to bring a colapable soft cooler to put ice in to keep milk and pop cold...
- Anybody know where the closest grocery store is to the Sahara hotel?

- Anybody know of a way to get from the airport to the Sahara (area) on a Free Hotel Shuttle? Or should I bite the bullet and take a airport shuttle for 9 bucks?

I called the Las Vegas Transit City Bus (RTC) and they told me they most likey would NOT allow me on a city bus with 2 carry-on bags and 1 suitcase.
I think the route 108 bus will take me to the backside of the Hotel.
- Is this true? Has anyone taken the city bus to a strip hotel before??

- Is Downtown the best spot for cheap gambling?? $2. blackjack? I heard slots-a-fun was a good spot??

-If anyone has any ideas on saving a bit of money let me know....

Food is very cheap in Las Vegas, so you might be money ahead if you just eat at the Sahara buffet. Last time I ate there they even had free coupons you could get for a couple dollars off the buffet. If you time it right you can eat a late lunch around 3p for about $7 ($9 without coupon) and then extend it to dinner by staying past 4pm. You then get the $11 dollar prime rib buffet for free. Unless you were planning to eat ramen soup, $7 for 2 meals is a great deal. They even have shrimp and crab legs. You could do the same thing for breakfast/lunch (10a breakfast and then lunch at 12p). Breakfast is $8 and less with coupon.

You are not going to do much better than the shuttle from the airport. Make sure to get a round trip ticket, since it is cheaper.

Yes, downtown has lots of cheap table games. However, you can find a lot of places on the strip that offer $2 games during the day. You might want to take a look at O'Sheas and other smaller strip casinos.

You can catch a bus take it to Tropicana blvd.be sure to get a transfer walk over to the Hooters go east on trop. to the Wal-Mart (it is the bus stop) do the same in reverse to come back. done this my self when we didn't get a car and I still get sodas and snacks for the room it is a big money saver. check out www.lasvegasadvisor.com they will tell you where you can get coupon books in different hotels to save more money we do it all the time nothing like getting a 2 for 1 buffet, lots of luck

Lightbulb Re: Vegas on a very limited buget.

SAHARA FOR 3 DOLLAR BLACKJACK OR DOWNTOWN HOTELS, YOU CAN CATCH A HALF DECENT BUFFETT AT SAHARA AS WELL, IF YOUR IN A CAR OR DON'T MIND A CAB RIDE GO TO PALACE STATION FOR THERE BUFFETT. CHEAP AND GOOD! TRY ELLIS ISLAND FOR A $4.95 STEAK SPECIAL IF YOU CAN (YOU HALF TO ASK FOR IT, IT IS NOT ON THE MENU), RIVIERA HAS A TON OF 1.50 SPECIALS, HOT DOGS ETC. A WHOLE BUNCH OF STUFF, SLOTS-O-FUN HAS A HUGE JUMBO HOTDOG FOR A DOLLAR FIFTY, AND CASINO ROYALE HAS DOLLAR BEERS OR FROZEN MARGARITAS. AS FAR AS CLUBS, GET TO COYOTE UGLY BEFORE 9 AND THE COVER IS CHEAPER IF NOT FREE SOMETIMES. HOPE THIS HELPS
