Unhappy Good Manners Quoting and Posting

I am a relatively new here but in my short time I have witnessed posters not just quoting other posters in the reply they write but adding words to change the intended meaning of the original thread.

I think this behaviour is dispickable and should lead to some censuring of the offenders right to post. The only reason I can see this happening is some of the members here only care for their opinions and not others.

This should be stopped by the moderator(s) before more damage is done or members start to leave this site.

It just occurred to me that maybe these mis-quoters want the 2 nights of free rooms and they believe by roughing up the originators of a thread (in type) they may bully them to leave before the contest is over. Thus they get a better chance to win.

Default Speaking of Good Manners.....

Not so "Laughinladie", I don't see any posts that are misquoted but "just in case", and see that you are from "Canada", so this is for "you":

Amendment I - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, prohibiting the free exercise thereof;or or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This interested me so I took the time to re-read some quotes. I have found some additional words added to quotes to change or reverse meanings when critiquing other posters. I will look for an example and if it hasn't been quietly re-editted I will post it below.

As Dennis Miller wd say, "thats just my opinion I could be wrong"

It does seem though that a group of posters here only want only there opinions heard and do not want to hear what other have to say. So much for free speech!

This is my quote from the posts,

"T/K you can keep paying for your room if you prefer. It is your choice"

What T/Killer attributed to my post:

My question where did I say, "Comps are not that advantageous." Turtle Killer did.

Quote but don't mislead if you truly care about freedoms of others.

I have better things to do than not be able to trust the honest intentions of posters here so for me "FORGET WHAT I SAID" in that thread where these quotes came.

I have taken the unusual step of blocking posts by 3 members and this post and others read pretty cool now.

Bossman you ask......." My question where did I say, "Comps are not that advantageous." ......You did.

This is your post:

I would guess you're lucky to earn $1.00 or $2.00 in normal comps for your play. No one has to do this or accept free rooms if they are offered I discovered what some casinos do by accident but felt sharing what I discovered is something worth consideration by the members here.

So instead of paying for a room for eight nights on this last trip in April 2006 which would have been about $1000.00 It cost me $60.00 in a slot machine.

On my previous trip in December 2005 I actually had six nights free accommodations and also made a profit of $400.00 for future accommodations. ( to use when this free room policy ends) This was not planned and like I stated earlier I don't play slots; I am a CRAPS player.

On other trips I averaged as you mentioned earlier about a 20% ($20.00) cost for my week of free rooms on the trip. What the casino wants and what most people do is play unlimited amounts when a casino gives them a room. I'm just saying EXPLOIT this program as long as it lasts.

T/K you can keep paying for your room if you prefer. It is your choice.

Any other members have similar stories of what some casinos do to attract players that do not balance the amount gambled and the "freebies received" ????

I read all that has been written and when someone takes words from two different areas of an article to prove one point it is not fair or proper quoting.

Of course Americans may live by different standards as they do with "freedom of speech" - only for males.

Women with a difference of opinion are belittled. (at least on this site)

The only person who spoke up for my being belittled was Bossman.

Laughinladie, please be careful on your assumptions. Iamabigashot (who by the way is a girl) was not talking about you, she was making a point to Bossman, it was a pun on Bossman, it had absolutely nothing to do with you, or about you.

Iama's quote to you at the bottom of the post, was about your understanding of comps, which was: Anything a casino gives you is a considered a "comp", period. Read the definition of a comp which she posted.

Laughinladie you wrote: "I read all that has been written and when someone takes words from two different areas of an article to prove one point it is not fair or proper quoting."

Tk was making two points. (and he does not need to quote the whole book for "proper" quoting). His answers were to Bossman's two statements of: "T/K you can keep paying for your room if you prefer. It is your choice" and "Comps are not that advantageous."

Point One:, He (Tk)doe's not pay for his room, Point two:, was his posting of all the comps he received/used for a trip, to make the point that "Comps are that advantageous".

By evidence of the post below the only people who are calling for censorship are you and Bossman. You seem to say anything you want, factual or not and no one is trying to stop your freedom of speech or postings are they?

I think Bossman did the right thing. You didn't want other opinions. His suggestions have merit in the limited fashion he suggested.

I let the boys have the last say on this matter. There comments had merit in the scheme of things. I for one know their intent was positive and for protection of the novice visitor to Las Vegas and this site. It takes self-control to do what I suggested and I didn't bring that up--- the guys did. For that I am grateful.
