Default When I Don't Care about COMPS

It has taken me almost 30 years to realize when I don't give a damn about a comp. The latest time was on my birthday at the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas.

I had planned to put my 4 hour session in at the CRAPS table and keep in the casino hosts good books. (actually I don't have one there) Well I bought in and next thing you know it was already my roll. I started rolling and hitting and repeating point and come numbers as well as hard "6" and hard "4" Time went fast but I had found a table and a delivery of the dice that was gentle and also accurate. It was over in about 10-15 minutes and I was smart enough to let other participants show me what they could do before I invested in them. I did a count of my chips and soon realized I had tripled my stake on that roll. The rest of the table got only my minimum bets (thank god) then already it was my turn to roll again. This time I hit a few numbers and many more horn numbers (which I don't bet). It was not the same as the first session. I gave back almost my initial stake but had retained a little more than double my buy in and enough more to cover all the daily expenses for the three of us. I left the casino after 45 minutes. Most of the table walked away too.

The last thing on my mind was checking for comps... which I didn't qualify for anyway.

Funny now what normally happens when I have a quick and successful session rolling dice...the casino will send me a private separate invitation (covering all expenses) to quickly return where my dice rolling will make them both my money back and others $$$ who will quickly jump on my rolls. I did not earn this treatment as a comp but as a casino's descretionary procedure. They know that I attract others to the craps table as well as pull them away after a rolling session. In this latest session I got 3 phone numbers to let my fellow gamblers know when and where I will be gambling.

For those who know the difference I am what you call a short term gambler. I only play about four times a year for a couple weeks at a time.

My next planned session will be at the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta in July.
